Sharing files in Ultimate Edition is very simple to setup it can be done in one statement from the terminal:

Code: Select all
sudo smbpasswd -L -a your_username

It should show similar:
Code: Select all
theemahn@SledgeHammer:~$ sudo smbpasswd -L -a theemahn
[sudo] password for theemahn:
New SMB password:
Retype new SMB password:
Added user theemahn.
theemahn@SledgeHammer:~$

of course replace your_username with the username you use on your Ultimate Edition box. It will prompt you for your password enter the same password you use 3 times to set it. Open your Nautilus and browse to a folder you wish to share. Right click the folder and select share folder. Select Windows Networks (SMB), set write access if you wish by un-checking the read only box and click ok. Goto your windows box and browse though the network when you are prompted for a password enter the same username / password as you entered earlier. Enjoy!!!

Here is something I've been struggling with. I have a Ultimate Edition box in my office with a 500gb drive that has a shared folder called "Stuff"

In my livingroom I have another Ultimate Edition box connected to my entertainment system. I can manually get to my Stuff folder on my office PC, but what if I want a link on my desktop?

I have been trying along time to do this.

I would open a terminal and create a symbolic link on your desktop. For example:

Code: Select all
ln -s /pathto/Your_Network_Folder ~/Desktop/

If you wish to learn more options of ln please review this page it is also available in windows...
