[SOLVED]Ultimate automatically mount all windows partitions?

Postby mirchichamu » Fri Oct 08, 2010 1:27 am

Hi all..........I wanted to mount only the storage partition which I want to be shared by both Linux and windows. I used NTFS configuration tool to mount only Storage partition but it mounts all windows partitions. When I want to unmount, then I get a message that only root can unmount?

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Just open a Terminal, and type:
Code: Select all
ls -al /media/

Look for the name of the mounted drive, then type this:
Code: Select all
su umount /media/XXXX
where XXXX is the Name of the mounted drive from the previous command. You must supply the password (usually the same one you use to Login) to complete this task.
You will need to remove that drive from the NTFS Configuration Tool, Advanced Configuration , or at least remove the check mark next to it, in order for it NOT to mount on the next boot.

Let me know if this resolves your problem...

Thanks TexasMike for coming to my help once again.
I think nothing is working. I applied the commands but failed saying unknown ID...I unticked everything in NTFS configuration tool but when I restart all partitions are mounted. I want to mount only drive E (storage) so that I can store or access to my documents etc.

Hello mirchichamu.

did you have try to use the mount manager?
and install as well the usb mount.
This will take care of your issue with the mount the partition that you need to mount.
and you can unmount the others with the mount manager.
