Help & support for Ultimate Edition 2.7

Test My Conky Install

Postby linuxfreack » Sun Sep 26, 2010 3:25 pm

Hi, I try to make e conky install script with tree conky's like you see in the screenshot.

Wood you help to test it, I tested it on e blank ubuntu 10.04 and it works almost perfect. Also it will work on Ultimate Edition 2.7 buth the script includes installingen al dependencies for conky so i wood say for e great test do sudo apt-get remove conky-all before you test my install_conky in the 2.7.
The 15 second delay before the conky's go active is made so there are no conflicts with compiz ad loggin.
So don't panic if it takes 15 seconds after installation just wait and see.

!!!read the READ.txt for configuration(gmail, weather,RSS feads.!!!!!!

linuxfreack,
I DL'ed and installed your Conky Install script. It works great! Good job! <BREW>
Excellent instructions and easy to install!

One request: It would be nice if you could offer more "CPU Core" entries, and have your script adjust its output to the actual number of "CPU Cores" it can see on the PC it is installed on: For instance - if the CPU is a "Dual Core" then it is great as it is, but if the CPU is a "Quad Core" or more (as in the AMD 6 Core or the Intel Core I3, I5, or I7 processors), it would be nice if they all could be shown.
I am including a screenshot of the "original" results of your install script, and another with 4 CPU Cores ( it needs some adjusting in order to display correctly when configured for 4 CPU Cores)... ;)

As you built it - without any modification except those you specified in your READ.txt file:

Screenshot1.png
Your Conky Install Script - un-modified & showing 2 CPU Cores...

This one is with 4 CPU Cores - I just copied and pasted the line for CORE2: as CORE3: and CORE4:...
Screenshot2.png
Your .conkyrc modified for a 4 Core CPU - just added two more lines and changed the Core#...

Hi TexasMike,

First i want to say that the system conky configuration is not my work (that someone ell's good work).
My goal is to have easy install of 3 conky's windows with minor configuration.
So i see on your printscreen you only have the system conky.
If this is correct see if the script installed the conkyforecast and conkyRhithmbox (in synaptic) is installed.
Normely the script d'us that.
Also chmod 777 -R your script folder in your home directory.
Verify the configuration settings of your country (weather) and your gmail and rss feads.
If al screens are their you can scip this and i will be happy :D .
Look ad my printscreen it has to bee the same wen you followd the instructions otherwise my script is no good :( .

!!!Also you have the change the root in the startup script home/xxxx/conky_start.sh
change Home/stef to home/"your folder"!!!!
 "fixt it in the new version"

Here in attachment also adapted script for 4CPU's replace home/xxxx/scripts/123.lua and home/xxx/.conkyrc also you need to put cpu2 and cpu3 in the 123.lua the layout must bee good.
don't forget to make the new conkyrc hidden .conkyrc

:P new version :P

Question how can you put variable in place for the user home folder that wood be e lot easier. for cp files to any home/"username" directory

thanks for testing :D :D
