Postby DarkSoul_DST » Wed Aug 11, 2010 4:23 pm

Ok 2.7 32bit finds and auto connects it just great. The problem is when I try to go to Firefox or any other web browser it crashs and disconnects. If I manually reconnect it logs in again no problem. It will read my network drive fine without crashing just wont let me connect to the internet.I have shut off the firewall and have edited it and restarted it.Even tried with the firewall off.

Postby Admin-Amir » Wed Aug 11, 2010 5:03 pm

Hello DarkSoul_DST.

First I will try to reset the modem/router and configure it from the start.
Then configure the eth0 to = auto eth0 - and mark the 2 options in the configuration box of the connection - up left for auto - down left for everyone.
Then see if you have installed all the packages for flash player in synaptic.
please After you have done the process that I have mention update the post here.

Thank you.
Admin-Amir

Ok Admin I tried to update flash player thru synaptic but got a crash report that says

Sorry ,the package "linux-backports-modules-wireless-2.6.32-22-generic-pae 2.6.32-22.13'' failed to install or upgrade the etho stuff I had already done .It was set to auto for everyone. Now after the failed attempt at downloading the flash player updates the wireless wont even connect to the internet after a reboot.
Ok I did something hooked it into the wired connection then connected to Mozilla then turned on wireless it stayed connected for about 5min before it crashed. That was with the wired disconnected. Its like something conflicting with the wireless.

Did a dmesg outcome below

Hello DarkSoul_DST.

Easy way to install all rt3070 devices in Ubuntu.
1. Add ppa:logari81/ppa
2. Install rt3070 package.
3. That's all!

Code: Select all
sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

Code: Select all
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/logari81/ppa/ubuntu lucid main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/logari81/ppa/ubuntu lucid main

The run:

Code: Select all
sudo apt-get update

Code: Select all
sudo apt-get upgrade

Right now Im on the wireless .Its running real slow and keeps disconnecting on every page load up.Admin Amir that fixed a little bit of the problem. When it disconnects if I pull it out of the usb port and plug it back in it fires right back up.The computer still knows its there even when disconnected from internet ,because when I pull it out after it says Im disconnected from the wireless it says Network disconnected to.

Hello DarkSoul_DST.

I have Q for you.
Is your modem/router is configure to DHCP?
auto DHCP for the wire & wireless = bout auto DHCP?

Run the following...

test@test:~$
Code: Select all
sudo modprobe -l | grep rt28[67].*

**Your output should show these in the output**

kernel/drivers/staging/rt2860/rt2860sta.ko
kernel/drivers/staging/rt2870/rt2870sta.ko

If they are not in the output you should check to see if they are on your system.

test@test:~$
Code: Select all
sudo find /* -name "rt28[67]*"

If those ko files are located on your system you should see somthing like the following:

/lib/firmware/rt2860.bin
/lib/firmware/rt2870.bin
/lib/modules/2.6.31-21-generic/kernel/drivers/staging/rt2860
/lib/modules/2.6.31-21-generic/kernel/drivers/staging/rt2860/rt2860sta.ko
/lib/modules/2.6.31-21-generic/kernel/drivers/staging/rt2870
/lib/modules/2.6.31-21-generic/kernel/drivers/staging/rt2870/rt2870sta.ko
/lib/modules/2.6.32-21-generic/kernel/drivers/staging/rt2860
/lib/modules/2.6.32-21-generic/kernel/drivers/staging/rt2860/rt2860sta.ko
/lib/modules/2.6.32-21-generic/kernel/drivers/staging/rt2870
/lib/modules/2.6.32-21-generic/kernel/drivers/staging/rt2870/rt2870sta.ko
/usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.32-21/drivers/staging/rt2860
/usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.32-21/drivers/staging/rt2870
/usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.32-21-generic/include/config/rt2860.h
/usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.32-21-generic/include/config/rt2870.h

Install the ko files under:
/lib/modules/2.6.32-21-generic/kernel/drivers/staging/rt2870/rt2870sta.ko
/lib/modules/2.6.32-21-generic/kernel/drivers/staging/rt2860/rt2860sta.ko

sudo insmod /lib/modules/2.6.32-21-generic/kernel/drivers/staging/rt2870/rt2870sta.ko

Code: Select all
sudo insmod /lib/modules/2.6.32-21-generic/kernel/drivers/staging/rt2860/rt2860sta.ko

Code: Select all
sudo depmod -a

You are almost done... just check what modules are currently loaded for your belkin.

test@test:~$
Code: Select all
sudo lsmod | grep rt28*

If you have "rt2800usb" as a result you will need to black list that driver

Code: Select all
sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

Goto the bottom of the file and add the following line and save the file:

blacklist rt2800usb

Now reboot and you should be all done.
