VI editor-[SOLVED]

Help & support for Ultimate Edition 2.7

VI editor-[SOLVED]

Postby Mazal » Sat Aug 07, 2010 12:51 am

Morning everyone. Just installed 2.7 32bit and first thing I wanted to do was to edit my fstab to add my server share. However , I can't get vi editor to work. It opens but navigation in the file don't work. When I want to navigate with arrows or enter key it inputs gyberish. I run it with both sudo and su but neither worked. I had to enable root user and log in with it to edit the file with gedit. Any ideas ?

Ok got this to work. For those that have the same problem here's how I fixed it: Looks like vi is not used and it is actually vim in this release. But vim is not fully installed. All I did was install vim with sudo apt-get install vim and now it's working ;)
