Amir, I ran across this surfing through the forums. I had skype but cam wouldn't work. Sort of put it on back burner. Any way loaded all the pack's you shown. And, Woopee! I have skype video. I installed them all fron Synaptic by using the search function. Since I had cheese already installed 5 or so were already there. However couldn't locate "uvcdynctrl" or "same-data". But it works so not sure really necessary. I use Logitec Quick Cam. Thank YOU!

Hello Slopoke.

Thank you for your update on this issue with the webcam.
about the uvcdynctrl,just search in synaptic for uvcdynctrl,
There you have 2 packages to install the 2+4 package if I recall right.
This will fix your issue.

Hi Admin-Amir
I also have problems in Skype.
I have installed all the files and packages you recommended, v4l, avi etc and still no video.
Did a search on other ubuntu forums and found a command line something like:
LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so skype
LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1covert.so skype

now skype does not show up on my menu, but will work from a terminal.
either way, I cannot get the video to work - but it works in cheese, canorama, all the other applications. My camera is an A4 tek (quite old)
I have also tried to link it to Pidgin but without success.
your advice/direction please,
newmusic

Hello newmusic.

In Pidgin you need to install the plug in for connecting with skype.
for the rest of the solution I will need you to upload for me screen shots form search in synaptic:

1- webcam.
2- USB.
3- Quick cam.
4- then under Ubuntu Software Center you have there some more option for installation.

As fast that you can post your screens then we can solve your web cam issue.
