well that was my point to see that there is real mess on your machine.
If Deb is not install the packages ...

I will ask you to Reinstall your system ,
and After you do that please use the multimedia Guide.
You just can't work with the system properly ,it is A mess there.
So please install the system from the start , follow the Upgrade of the Kernel,
Follow the Multimedia Guide,Follow the Ubuntu Tweak Guide and you will be fine.
Then we can fork out your issue with the USB - to solve it.
It just looks very bad like it is now.
Be sport and spend the time to Reinstall the system and add all the support for the system please.
Sorry.

Thanks once again. I will try to reinstall again BUT I didn't do anything more than what you asked me to do. Remember I don't ever intend to blame you.
Thanks for the help. I will meet you again once I finish.

The virtual os can only detect usb devises that the host os can detect....thats the way I always understood it.

Thanks the blackwolf and Cell for your replies. I would like to ask, is there any way that the host recognize a windows mobile? I searched everywhere but didn't succeed. But one thing I noticed that before my OS mingled, I saw that my vmbox recognized my HTC phone and it was showing in USB detected but somehow I was unable to connect. May be my firewall was preventing the connection. Now that I configured my firewall, it is not recognizing. I wonder how it recognized before and not now?
