Go for it theology, 2.7 x86 screams on my machine like it's never done before. Looks like another great piece of art. And thanks, it's always good to hear that people are enjoying it.

Hi,

Thanks very much for this fast new release i think it's great.

How ever i have little idea for you.
You think it's possible to make e lite version of Ultimate Edition for:

1. Slower PC's or Laptop's
2. To have all basic users tools (exemple: one tool video converting one all around media player, enz)

De reason i ask this is that i tell e lot of people of this distri they like it directly but they say that there to much programs in it and they think it's overwhelming.

Now my answer is that they are all useful but i do understand them.

So wath do you think.

Again thanks to TheeMahn and the Team you done amazing job again.

You guys are great. I think it is awesome you take the time to drop back in and say the kind comments as you have. We are not done, no theme yet (don't tell Cowboy - too late as I was wring this post he has already started on artwork), Ultimate Edition 2.7 Saturday, whats this Monday (you deserve a sneak peak):
built.png
Already? Cowboy is the bomb.

That is Mavrick, how so fast? I wrote some powerful packages that automate the process 5 in all. I suppose an explanation is in order:
1 package installs all Ultimate Edition related software in one swift motion if you remove Abiword for example it will remove the Ultimate Edition 2.7 metapackage not the other 1000 or so ;)

For the most part I built the whole O/S with 5 packages:
1. ubiquity-slideshow-ubuntu_30_all.deb I rebuilt, this package gives credits, donors page etc.
2. ultimate-edition-2.7.deb does as it says above.
3. ultimate-edition-2.6.3-plymouth_all.deb replaces Ubuntu's Plymouth splash
4. ultimate-edition-theme-2.6.3_all.deb installs 2.7's theme (does not set any defaults)
5. ultimate-edition-customizations-2.7.0_all.deb this is the bomb diggity of a package, does about 99% of my work I used to do by hand. Sets theme, transparency, yarssr news feeds, Compiz default settings, install the user guide, users home folder, nautilus scripts. I could go on and on. Took me 4 months to write this package.

Thanks Fellas,

TheeMahn

I do not see an issue in this department. I intend to buy a PS/3 for Bnjamin_Breeg and I to begin construction of a PS/3 Ultimate Edition style, while I wait I think it would be a good gesture to have a "lite edition". I would have to say with what I have seen LXDE does this better then any (and still maintain a GUI), or do you feel as a "base" the best to be the netbook edition? Your opinion matters to me. I do not want to recreate DSL (Damn Small Linux), as a programmer I have spent my life "trying" not to re-create the wheel.

I will be honest the software I have written allows automation of any type of Debian / Ubuntu based O/S. Be it lite be it a PS/3 or PC, the results will be identical. Adjust a package or 2 and a done deal.

Hi TheeMahn thank you for your response.

Now I mean more or Les the option adjust package's (exp: video player only VLC and Totem, no development tools) keep it simple but also keep the user-friendliness and comp-abilities of ultimate edition and the same graphical look. Maybe it is interesting to install the package USB_modeswitch and USB_modeswitch_data. For 3G modem integration.
If you are interested I will give you may opinion on the software that is the most interesting for e lite version.

I try to promote the gnome interface as much as I can. For it's user-friendliness for nautilus script possibilities etcetera etcetera. So many things.

Now I have taken e litle look at LXDE to tell you the trout I never tested it so far, but I will do so this evening. On first look I like it, now I need to now how user friendly it is.
So Your idea of LXDE interface “maybe on e live cd” and keeping the Ultimate Edition theme alive.
I think it can be e winner.

I do want to say that I hate the net-book interfaces I think it's more like e video game or my cellphone.

TheeMahn the people I talk to are basic users XP VISTE SOME WIN7 and they are so lazy.
They ask me can you reinstall my PC or Laptop and I always say I dont have e free win licence but I do have ultimate edition, you can do everything you can do with windows.
Then almost everyone say yes every time I give e demo on my laptop.
The next day the come back with the question like wath is this for and that and so an.
Now this is the reason I ask this question if you have to explain only one video converter like example winff that I use frequently it is very lite and easy.
That makes it e lot easier for the beginners to do the jump to linux what I like to see so much
I really do have pleasure in that..

Many greetz,
And thanks for the good work. :P

Yesterday I took e look add Lubuntu for the LXDE interface.
I gave e virtual machine 256 mb Ram and still it was super fast and userfriendly.
I tested other lightweight distro's like Damn small linux, puppy linux, ext.(don't really like them)
For me lubuntu dit it all i road e little batch to install all software i needed and it works like e charm.
Therefor i think that this concept of lubuntu tweakt by theemahn in the Ultimate Edition spirit will be e great success.
Also for the people that don't wont to download more than 2gb it's e great way to get to now Ultimate Edition.
This wood by e great idea what do you think.
I will try to help if I can with my limited no ledge. :P
