Hello hotrod.

Please do not rush to install again the system.
First thing you need to see in synaptic if you have updates/upgrades !!
Yes when you fill that the system is kind of slow down = you have updates/upgrades to your system.
Now you have to now that Ubuntu at this time update/upgrade there servers.
So it is not the issue with your machine ,
this is the connection from your machine Delivering the status to the servers,
The servers sent to your machine the index of the new update/upgrade and the system slow down and wait for you action with the update/upgrade.
So please First do not run to install the machine once again,
You just need to know how the system works.

Battery not detected

Hey everyone,

I own an acer 5553G and installed ultimate edition 2.7. Aside from my video cards woes (switching between my IGP radeon 4200 and my mobility radeon 5650 hd not possible; IGP radeon 4200 is selected by default) the biggest problem i have is that my battery is not being detected even though it's plugged into the system.
The command
Code: Select all
dmesg | grep ACPI
reveals that the battery "is not present". This severely limits my ability to work mobile as i prefer to work in Ultimate Edition.

Is there any way to fix this?

Kindest regards,

Neo

Hello neoleonhart & welcome to the U.E Forum.

For this issue there are 2 ways to solve it.
The First one will be BIOS Upgrade = this will solve few issue ALL in One for you.
The second option will be to use the - conky-builder.sh:
conky-builder.sh.zip
conky
(1.54 KiB) Downloaded 354 times

After the install of conky please Restart your machine.

Hey Admin-Amir, thnx for the advice & welcome. The BIOS upgrade actually solved my issue with the battery, so thnx for that suggestion <BREW> . my issue with the video cards seems to be related to a bug in the proprietary driver which i've filed on ubuntu lanchpad; it would seem there are a lot of similar bugs so it's being worked on. It's just a matter of time, i guess.

Kindest regards,

Neo
