Hello i am using Ultimate Edition 2.6.1 on my Acer 5536 laptop and i have a copy of 2.8 on c.d. but i was wondering what is the difference between all the versions please ?
I am using Peppermint Ice on an H.P. laptop i have for backup purposes.
I use my laptop mainly for internet browsing and checking my emails.

2.6.1 is based on Ubuntu 10.04, 2.8 (and 2.9) are based on 10.10. Even number releases are Gnome only, odd numbers include other GUIs

2.9 is still in testing mode is it not and can i download an iso file to try it ?

Looks like something is wrong with the download and it is being dealt with.
