Get Ultimate Edition 2.6.1 b4 the rest of the world.

Ooops my wrong !! (in my excitement) when I ran
Release Name: Linux unetbootin; Ultimate Edition style
Version: 494 ,I didn`t LOOK to see that I could choose a version, so ended up with the default choice
2.7 32bit.
Thats ok; ...so I installed the Release Name: Ultimate Edition 2.6.1 LTS
Architecture: x64 (64 bit)
Codebase: Ultimate Edition 2.6 (Ubuntu 10.04.1 Lucid Lynx)
Environment(s): Gnome
Filesize: 2.5 GB (2,657,875,968 bytes)
MD5SUM: 3cff444b22486be2dfc0c5c49c08bf40

Download: 64 Bit
via unetbootin standard OK no hitches

and also installed the 2.7 32bit that I downloaded via Linux unetbootin; Ultimate Edition style Version: 494 on my USB to a different partition OK no hitches.

There was was no choice for 2.6.1 in the tool so I am currently downloading 2.6 64 bit from it and will check the install to see that it goes ok and what it is (2.6 original or 2.6.1)

I could never get the demsg command to work while booting the 2.6.1 x64 dvd. I just booted the 2.8 x64 dvd and it worked. I did have to use the nomodeset command to get video working because of my Nvidia card. I am typing this from a fresh install of 2.8. Thanks TheeMahn!

are you happy with Ultimate Edition 2.8, or would you still like assistance with 2.6.1 Most of the issues I have seen with a lucid base is Nvidia video.

OK, sorry to be a bother but all`s ok and somehow the Ultimate Edition style unetbootin.deb that I first downloaded and installed to USB did not have the 2.6.1 version on it. the subsequent .debs 32bit and 64 bit I downloaded do have it, and both seem to have the same version choices to install (duplicates?) ie. the extracted /unetbootin.static files render the same images (and options to choose from) when opened.
I checked my system unetbootin file: /usr/bin/unetbootin/unetbootin.static and when opened it has the different lists. >>>
system file: unetbootin.static choice=2.7 2.6 2.5 2.4-with variations 32bit/64bit &gamers(2.6/2.4);. . . .
the .deb files(32/64/bit both)
----------------- unetbootin.static choice=2.8 2.7 2.6 Gamers-with variations as above +2.8lite+2.6.1(32/64bit)+gamers-2.8 2.6 2.4(all32/64bit)+2.3-gamers.

Thanks TheeMahn. I'm downloading the fresh iso (2.6.1 32bit) now, so as to not have to deal with the install errors like the progress bar going past 100% and then failing. I want to make a good first impression when I talk someone else into trying Ultimate Edition. Otherwise I wouldn't be eating up the bandwidth, which I know isn't cheap. Thanks again.

I ordered an ATI HD 5770. Am gonna try to install 2.6.1 on that. I decided to get a 24" Asus HD LCD to go along with it. I'll let you know how it works out.

yea, it's kinda ironic. When I built my system 4 years ago (need to rebuild) I got an NVIDIA card because at that time it worked better with the Linux that I was running. heh. Well between the work that TheeMann has done and that NVIDIA is doing makes it a lot easier that it was.

The one I ordered is a HIS H577FK1GD Radeon HD 5770 1GB. I ordered it from newegg for $130 minus a $30 rebate. I figured $100 ain't bad for a good video card, plus it's got hd audio built in, so no pass through like on my GTX260. I installed 2.6.2 x64 on my HTPC last night that is using a SAPPHIRE 100284L Radeon HD 5750 1GB. it looks great on my 50" Samsung plasma.
