Help & support for Ultimate Edition 2.6

Processor usage so high.

Postby JimmyCroft » Thu May 13, 2010 2:46 pm

Hi,

I open sistem monitor and there shows that CPU1 - 42% CPU2 - 40%

Without running nothing in my computer the system use 42% of my processor capacity??? I'm using a HP Notebook Turion64x2 2.0Ghz, and 2gb ram. A good computer. Using windows 7 (which I guess is much more heavy than Ultimate Edition) my processor usage stay about 2- 6% without any program open. 32% is a very high difference... and for worst!

Any ideias??

Are you running compiz? And firefox uses a lot of CPU. If you close firefox it should drop a lot.

Hello JimmyCroft, What you describe is what I see and have seen during the first 2 boots after installing any version of Ultimate Edition. By the 3rd boot the usage should drop to more normal levels. I always (right click and add the system monitor to the top panel as well as the force quit and weather little apps.

Open system monitor and check the "gnome-system-monitor" process in "Processes" tab, it varies from 10-40% and firefox will be above 5% most of the time.

Its better not to open gnome-system-monitor while ur laptop is not plugged in...
