Cursor issue [NOW it's Solved Yaaaay!!]

Help & support for Ultimate Edition 2.6

Re: Cursor issue [Solved]

Postby DemonTek » Mon May 03, 2010 2:10 am

This isn't a compiz problem. I don't use compiz at all. The cursor will NOT change no matter what. I even dl'd a new cursor set and it does NOT change.

So how is this marked solved?

Edit:
I have never had this issue before in ANY releases.

I hated to resolve this in that matter. It was me that set it solved. Ultimately it is them all I attempted to do is provide a "workaround". Perhaps you are right it is not resolved. That is a year they did to "resolve" the issue thank god it is low on their totem pole. I am sorry. I would like to ask, do you run Ultimate Edition 2.6? I am fairly certain your issue would be squashed. I bet money you are not running it otherwise [solved].

If you want to think about that that way solved is right.

I want to point out how nix works, I am all about education.

/etc/skel/
when installing rules the roost
/home/root/
next inline ... rip apart my disk and learn. I bet money I am right.

No worries bro. I just can't figure out why it's doing this. Compiz is disabled, I don't use it. So for me it's a different issue. Like I said, I have never had this issue in any other release.

Edit: Until this can be figured out, I will be reinstalling 2.4.

Don't sweat the load, What were you running when you dropped the post? It will fix 2.6 users probs, This is a 2.6 thread. When I said solved I ment it. Go back to 2.4? What are you thinking? Over Compiz? I bet 64 bit 2.6 if at all and then it becomes issues of drivers. I do know & have posted about it. How quickly we get beaten off the path.

This is NOT a compiz issue. Not sweat the load? Bro, I do not know how else to explain it, my issue is NOT solved. But if you want to mark it as solved then do so.

Works for me, although took ten times longer to implement than necessary, I think because I named the folder "Default" instead of "default"... oh yh and it's working with my AlienwareInvader cursor as well the the pimped out gold one. In fact there's soooo much gold in Ultimate Edition maybe u should rename it Ubuntu Pimped Edition? ;)

Have you attempted TheeMahn's workaround? That work around should override the default X cursor, it isn't strictly for those of us running compiz, this is just one of the causes of the giant cursor. While the issue is of course not "fixed", this provides a good alternative until it is. If you wish to use a different cursor then the Ultimate Edition Cursor, you should be able to open the index.theme file and change
Code: Select all
Inherits = Ultimate_Edition_2.6_Cursor

To whatever cursor you happen to want.
Just remember, TheeMahn's fix changes the default x cursor, so it doesn't matter if you are running compiz or not.

Look, I'm NOT a noob when it comes to 'nix systems, but this issue has got me buggered. If this was a Windows OS then yea, I'm a frackin noob. I'll figure it out and then I will post the resolution to this.
