Hello Seifer.

well if you have configure wine + playOnLinux right then there not suppose to be problems.
just see on the Gamers section the Guides for the PlayOnLinux + on the How To section look for wine,
And see if you have configure them right.

I hope that I am not hijacking this thread, but I noticed that it concerned playOnLinux.

After installing 2.6, playOnLinux is causing an error that will not let me do a software update. Keep getting message that cannot do a full update, and inquiring if I want to do a partial or close. If I choose partial, I get an error message identifying playOnLinux as the culprit. If I choose close, obviously, I do not perform any update. Either way, I cannot do a software update after installation. Have rebooted several times, and still same error on update.

Thank you for the reply. I have looked at your First Post in this thread, but do not see how that addresses my issue with PlayOnLinux.

At this point in time, I have no interest in running PlayOnLinux. I have never run WINE nor PlayOnLinux (I might in the future). I am merely seeking to run linux's Update Manager after completing the installation. I cannot do so. Only allowed to do a Partial Update, and when I select Partial Update rather than Close, I keep getting an error message that indicates that the culprit is PlayOnLinux.

Is there a way to just run Update Manager and get around PlayOnLinux causing me these problems? Do I have to remove/uninstall PlayOnLinux first before running Update Manager????

I am at work right now so can't play with UE2.6 right now.

Thank you,

nesnfsn

OK gut your point here with the PlayOnLinux.
Did you have try to run from the terminal the Update/Upgrade process?

Never have had to go to terminal and execute sudo apt-get update or sudo apt-get upgrade in order to permit Update Manager in /System/Administration to work before. Tried your suggestion, and voila, was able to update without any further problem. Sounds like I have experienced a minor annoying bug in Ubuntu 10.4.

Thanks for making me go back to the basics (terminal).

Hello nesnfsn.

You need to know that some time you have to make some work around to solve issues (bugs).
As I have said many times - Ubuntu made some kids work with the distribution!
So this is just one of them.
And you welcome.
