Hello JimmyCroft.

You can do it from Ubuntu Tweak - Auto start up - mark and Delet start up Auto:

There's no software running it, and no normal indication that is is running all the time(I have a couple of monitoring programs which run when it is witched on). However, the space behind the lens is always hot. Is this due to the way Ultimate Edition (Linux in general) detects hardware (and that there's no master switch unlike the network card)? That being the case, can someone give me the terminal commands to ignore it (and subsequently find it again when needed)?

Hello Vespasian.

I will try with you something if it is OK with you.
Look in synaptic if you have the package conky -all install there.
This is a full conky with most compile options enabled:

X11, XDamage, XDBE, Xft, MPD, MOC, OpenMP, math, hddtemp, portmon, RSS,
Weather, wireless, IBM, nvidia, eve-online, Imlib2, ALSA mixer, ncurses,
apcupsd, I/O stats, argb, Lua and the cairo and imlib2 lua bindings.

you can stop conky in Ubuntu Tweak/start up programs.
If yes - then get this package and Remember to mark Execute - then run in terminal the testme.sh.
Then Restart your machine and post back on your monitoring of the system.
This one will make your BOOT faster , and the system will get better.

I have an issue with my Raid 0 not showing up as a 3rd drive. I've got 4 hard drives. 1 x 160gb Seagate (has Ultimate Edition 2.6 installed on it), 1 x 500gb WD, and 2 x 500gb WD Raid 0 (this hdd has all my movies and games on it). My first 500gb hdd shows up, but not my raid 0. Any idea how to mount it or have it show up so I can access it?

Just double-click it and it will generate automatically a .conkyrc file in your ~/home directory/partition.After that you can start conky through terminal:
Code: Select all
conky

My problem start after the menu appear on the screen and I select the first option: Install... after that my monitor turned goes in stand-by and the dvd is running but I am not able to see any screen, only blank screen.
Here is another problem: I have vers. 2.5 installed on HDD but when I upgraded to Lucid via Kpackages grub was screwed up "grub_puts" :o appear anyway reinstalled grub to fix the problems, and when I managed to start my Ultimate 2.5 from HDD  Ultimate theme has gone with upgrades and only a red wallpaper, was left there. Ok. I think that if I reinstall Ultimate Theme pack will fix this too but :? wasn't successful because I am not able to install Ultimate Theme pack, and a message appear to me that tell "Usplash is not installed and not will be installed"
:?: Could someone help me with some advice? thx <BREW>

Hi xtremex and welcome to the forum,

There are warnings here that say not to upgrade Ultimate Edition 2.4or 2.5 to lucid that it will cause issues. So I don't know what to tell you on how to fix 2.5 now short of a reinstall. It might help us to be able to troubleshoot the install issue of 2.6 if we knew what graphics card you have.
Have you tried the Try without installing option ? And it does take a while to load sometimes.
