Hello mrchips .

I have Guide you all here to use the Parted Magic in Advanced.
download the ISO from there site, burn the ISO to Disc, then change your BOOT to CD.
Now when Parted Magic will come to the Desktop, then use the partition manager,
Live the MS partition - just Delete the ext3+swap from the HDD and live the Linux partition UNALLOCATED.
blank gray partition.
Then Apply the changes on the top bar and you done.
Restart your machine, insert the U.E 2.6 and start the installation process.

i will give that a shot and let you know if it works

keep in mind, this is a non-dual boot system. there is nothing on the only hard drive installed.

jhollon .

If your HDD was not Detected How can you install anything on it :?:
Your HDD has to be Detected first right,if you have new HDD it has to be formated first.
you can use parted magic to formate your Drive to UNALLOCATED - then you can install the system.

that is my point, i did do that. plus if i boot to 2.6 live, gparted sees the drive as sda. so i know the live OS sees it.

this maybe something with the Harddrive, but what is odd, is i can install Backtrack and ubuntu to it no problems.

I understand the disk has to be formatted to install anything, this isn't my first rodeo, problem is that the installer script refuses to see a hard drive that programs within the os running live can see

So I could see the big picture on the subject.
First disconnect the main power supply of the computer,
and reset the BIOS .
and after a few seconds, plug it in again.
The second part - try to move the IDE cable for the second connecting 2= IDE-1to IDE2.

I'm sure that if you use Parted Magic to format the HDD this will solve the issue,
and let you install the system on your Drive.

The way I see it you use parted - not parted magic.
This is how you need to see your Drive from the Parted Magic:

and you download the ISO from here:
