You are running basically the same hardware as Finetuch, minus a couple TB BE Sata III's, he posted about the 64 bit and the Kernel a page back, I hope you heeded his warning ;) I bet you love sitting behind that rig, I have sit in front of his a few times, like a rocket.

If so, awesome? Looking forward to 2.7 - things can only get better with the work you do. Although I have to say - I could be happy with 2.6 for a long time to come if it wasn't pure desire for the latest greatest. 2.6 was just a stellar effort

Mark

PS still willing to beta test if you need one - starting to learn to code (I was a hardware and machine code guy back in the day) I am disabled and home most of the time with nothing but time - would love to help in some way if you need it

Thanks Mark,

Yes, it is my handywork or should I say the handywork of the debs I wrote to make things happen all in one motion.

I wrote 2 debs 1 called ultimate-edition-2.6.deb This deb is a metapackage that installs all Ultimate Edition related software. I also wrote ultimate-edition-customizations-2.6.0.deb. This deb is straight off the hook It does a ton of things; sets your homepage customizes your desktop /etc/skel and gconf entries, just 2 name a few.

Basically you could install those 2 debs in Lucid and make Ultimate Edition 2.6, it took me four months to write them. Why have I not released them? I am afraid the end user would install them rather then use them to build an O/S.

I am going to be honest with you. Once I have Ultimate Edition 2.7 uploaded I will go back to Ultimate Edition 2.6. You may wonder why. I am not a KDE man, nor XFCE, nor LXDE. Things I do not need or desire, does not mean the end user does not desire such. Beta Testing, I may call on you, we shall see.

Think about this prior to Ultimate Edition 2.6's release the most downloaded O/S was Ultimate Edition 2.5 not Ultimate Edition 2.4. Which has been around longer? Ultimate Edition 2.6 Broke Ultimate Edition 2.5's record in days not months. What is Ultimate Edition 2.7 going to do?

Thank you Sourceforge. Petabytes in a single smooth motion. When I log in I think they know who I am. Here it comes fellas ;) #54 top downloads of millions of projects please consider #1 is a MB download we are gigs. We are from done. My goal is #3 Linux based O/S in the world, we are #13. Will we get there, yes. The only factor I even consider is when. Will Ultimate Edition 2.7 be enough to do it?

Why not#1, please don't ask. Sorry for spouting off. You are in good hands & to the best of my ability, ensure you stay there.

Where can I find a list of packages included in the Ultimate Edition 2.6 repository? I went to the link on the repository page (to http://www.repoubuntusoftware.info/) and it's blank. :o

I do appreciate the quality of your work. I remember reading reviews early on disparaging the code you wrote and I remember being irritated because Ultimate Edition even in the early days was running quick, stable and out of the box with so much and that has done nothing but improve. 2.6 is a great distro. I do use kde once in a while but then my ADD settles down :D and I go back to Gnome usually in less than a half day. I think Gnome is much stabler and quicker these days. I don't know what you could possibly do better in 2.7. 2.6 just seems awesome to me. Thanks again
