Will Ultimate Edition 2.6 save us from doing clean installs for every other upgrade edition after 2.6. I am currently running 2.5 off of a external usb harddrive & dont have any problems with it as i find it very user friendly. The way it will in stall flash for you through Ultimatix makes it easy

Hello Wildlinux .

Process of removing the previous kernel and older packages,
Automatically will not be on any distribution for the simple reason of the lower kernel options Needz.
For a weaker station or not matching drivers / updates a weaker station.
Which requires a lower kernel of the system to work properly.
I think the solution I gave to users here on the site is simple, fast, and easy.
The script will work perfectly after the update / upgrade a new kernel new system as well.

Hello Wildlinux! That is something that remains to be seen ! I do know that TheeMahn 8-) is working on just that type of upgrade, possibly from the repos or maybe a .deb, but as it stands right now when Ultimate Edition 2.6 is released you will have to do a fresh install ! but only TheeMahn 8-) knows when and if a repo or .deb upgrade after that is or will be possible ! only time will tell ! I do know he is already looking to the future (2.7  :o ;) ) so we will have to wait and see what Canonical does ! they keep throwing curve balls out with every distro-upgrade and TheeMahn 8-) Is currently trying to retro-fit the old to the new ! (and still come up with new and fresh things !) so all Ultimate Edition distros past, present, and future will be able to function and operate with both old and new themes, applications and such, Right now as you can probably tell his plate is a little more than full ! He is truly an amazing individual and given time he will make things happen !! of this you can bet money on !! ;)

Ok so i doubt U.E Will never get to the stage of auto upgrade because it is a bit different to ubuntu unless ubuntu can be turned into U.E with a update. I just save home folder & add to new install anyway so i can put up with it.
