Xorg using 100% of one core

Hello, all. First and foremost, I want to thank TheeMahn for his hard work and dedication to bring us all the Ultimate Edition. I have been using Linux for around 10 years now, and I think I have finally found myself a home. I decided to switch from Fedora to Ubuntu about 3 months ago, and ran into Ultimate Edition 2.5 while I was downloading the vanilla Ubuntu 9.10 installation image. I opted to try Ultimate Edition instead and it seems to have been the best decision of my computing life! Thanks again for all the time and effort put into the distro and the forums. This is a great, informative community.

Since my switch to Ultimate Edition, I have had one recurring issue that I have not been able to resolve myself and I have not found any kind of solution for on-line (although I see that I am not alone with the issue). Intermittently, when I log into my user account, Xorg races a single core on my CPU. If I let it sit, the CPU never stops racing. Logging out and back in will fix it. Sometimes it must be done twice (or even three times) before the CPU calms down. It will often happen again if I log out and back in.

So far, this seems to be a problem with both the repo nVidia drivers and drivers from nVidia's website. I have not seen anything in the Xorg logs that indicates any trouble. I have uninstalled compiz, but the problem persists. But since there is a work around (log out and log in until the problem stops), it has not been a priority.

Let me know if you have any ideas or if more information would be helpful.

Or here.

https://launchpad.net/bugs/439138

Have you up updated yet?Open synaptics and under repositories check the two repos that aren't checked, and update.

Might help, might not.The bug says its fixed at the top of the page tho.

Funny, it's always the simple stuff. When the problem was first encountered, I had applied updates often but none of them addressed the issue. Now that you reminded me and I have completed the updates, I am no longer experiencing the problem. Thanks!
