Alternative Installation methods? [SOLVED]

So, after a brief attempt at trying the UNetbootin USB method of doing a USB install (And failed, even with a USB Jump drive) I am wondering if there are any other options? Must be configurable within Windows, preferably without a Blank DVD. I do have a 4 GB USB drive to be used.

I am also wondering if it might be possible to load Ubuntu 9.10, then upgrade to ultimate edition 2.5 from there? I can get Ubuntu 9.10 to install fine with my jump drive.

EDIT
This is what I have come up with to see if it might work, please let me know of any issues I might encounter.
I download and install Eultimate Edition 2.3 (Last one UNetbootin worked for) then upgrade to 2.5. Anyone see any serious issues with this?

Alamue,
It is not advised to upgrade from one version of Ultimate Edition to another. I know that TheeMahn is working on a way for this to be accomplished in the future, but at this time the upgrade of one version to another is froth with major problems and is not recommended.
BTW: I used the Unetbootin (the windows version in Win XP Pro) from this link, just a couple of days B4 Xmas to install Ultimate Edition 2.5X64 with incident or error" from my SanDisk 4.0GB thumb Drive:
http://lubi.sourceforge.net/unetbootin.html. :)

You might also refer to this Post by TheeMahn, for some guidelines... ;)

I might have gotten it figured out,

I seem to have forgotten that You cannot use NTFS file systems for booting Linux. I managed to get Ubuntu 9.10 for netbooks installed onto my Mini 12 using the USB Installer V0.2 for Ubuntu 9.10 Setup program. I am now seeing if I can use the Ultimate Edition iso to do it for my desktop.

UNetbootin would not work for any file system for any reason for me. This was using a first gen Kingston DataTraveler 4 GB Jump drive (Semi-old by now)

Hit a new issue now.

I continue to get the following error right after the initial loading screen appears, it is
Code: Select all
(Initramfs) Unable to find a medium containing a live file system

Any thoughts?

EDIT I should also say, that doing a cat /casper.log I get a whole bunch of sr0 errors (I believe this is floppy) this being just an unable to mount error. When I try this with a straight ubuntu image, I get the same error, but a small speel about how it just dropped to busybox.
