drive space issues

Postby bootdoc » Tue Dec 22, 2009 4:20 pm

I can not figure out why there are drive space issues! On one computer running uue2.2 i have sun virtualbox installed with xp virtual drive (10gb). I run disk analyser and it shows / 100% > /home 100% and then it breaks it down to .virtualbox/Harddisks near full. why would this virtual drive in my /home cause things to break down? my /home on this box is 235gbs free space!

on another machine running uue2.5 it is the /home/video folder that is causing similar issues. How is it that one folder which really has no relationship with the operation of the machine cause such problems? The / part is >18gigs! also the /var is causing issues even after apt-get clean. /var is over 2gigs.

Can anyone suggest a partitioning scheme that works? I usually partition the disk manually at install. Should I let the installer handle that?
