Hard Drive Space Requirement

Help and support for Ultimate Edition 2.5

Hard Drive Space Requirement

Postby nexrad7526 » Mon Dec 21, 2009 2:43 am

How much space should I allocate for Ultimate Edition 2.5 on a dual boot (Win 7) machine?

root = Space Needed?

Swap = Space Needed?

File 3 or 4 = Space needed?

What file system would be recommended 3 or 4?

Thanks!

How much space do you have? And do you use a external drive for storage ?(home backup) or will you want to include a storage partition on your hard drive ? :ugeek:

I do have a 1T ext drive. In the computer I have one partition, my "D" drive that has about 105gb free. Storage for Ultimate Edition is not a huge need but some might be valuable.

Well wow ! If you have 1T of external storage you have no need for an internal partition for storage, I would split your 105 in half and install Ultimate Edition on the end of the split partition,50 to 60 gigs is more than enough space, Ext4 is the default install in Karmic, The installer will set swap partition itself.Have you installed Ultimate Edition before, are familiar with how to use the installer ?

Yea, installed in the past so I should have no problem so long as it sets up dual boot with Win7 as it has in the past with Vista. Really a flawless install in the past.

Okay so I'll start the install shortly, as soon as I burn the ISO.

Thanks!
