Postby dan j » Wed Dec 16, 2009 8:58 pm

I downloaded and installed Ultimate Edition 2.5. All went well except i have no XFCE login. I have three Gnome logins a KDE login and xterm.
Did i do something wrong? Or maybe a bad download? Any help would be appreciated.

Hello and welcome to the Ultimate Edition Board dan j. We are happy to have you here ;)

If need XFCE desktop shell to be installed in your Ultimate Edition. Please copy and paste the following command in a "Terminal".

Code: Select all
sudo aptitude update && sudo aptitude install xubuntu-desktop

That should get you well on your way.

To use XFCE after you've installed it:

Log out.
Under Session, select Xfce.
Log back in again.
If Xfce is still too heavy

Ok. Give it a go and let me know whats the outcome like. It shouldn't take long to install as XFCE is a very light desktop shell!!

Well that did not work either. I still end up with three gnome logins a kde and an xterm. It is really no big deal, I just wanted to try and use all three destops. Most of the time i use gnome anyway. I am beginning the to thing i got a bad down load. My ISP will sometimes just shut down on long downloads. Thanks for your help anyway.
