Update ahter Install reverts Splash Screen to Ultimate Edition 2.4

To prevent future occurrence of this. Please pay attention to what is been/ going to be "updated" when the update manager pops up!!

This is what i got. 2.4 boot screen then it goes to 2.5 just before it displays my desktop. so i uninstalled 2.4 theme (2.4 xspalsh not installed) then i got kubuntu boot screen followed be 2.5, then desktop. reinstalled 2.5 theme and xsplash, with same results, but now i get kubuntu shutdown screen. never installed anything but updates.

ok got it almost back, used johnnyg method. got everything but boot status bar. it just shows the 2.5 logo. other then the everything else seems to be back to normal.

Have you tried to install a new usplash to see if that will bring back the throbber ? try this install Thee's Nautilus scripts 1.5(if you don't already have it installed)

find a image you like (1028x768 preferred) put that on your desktop right click on it , click scripts "make usplash" after completion, install and set as usplash and reboot,see what happens,hopefully the throbber will be reset.
