I can log out of the Gnome session, and want to try the KDE session, but it asks for username and password. Nothing that I've tried works there. What is the Live Session default Username and Password? And yes, I did a forum search, but everything that mentions username and password has to do with an installed system.
Thank you for your time, and have a great day everyone!
I am not sure what the password is for the default "ubuntu" username, but a way around this is to:
1. Load Live CD
2. Arrive at loaded desktop
3. From the Menu "System" --> "Administration" --> "Users and Groups"
4. Click on user "ubuntu"
5. Select "Properties"
6. Under the "Password Section" "Set Password by Hand" should be checked
7. Delete the *'s in box 1 and enter a password, eg. hello
8, Delete the *'s in box 2 and rekey the same password as in box 1
9. Click "Ok"
Your Live CD will now have this new password saved for the "ubuntu" login for this Live CD session. (When you boot Live CD again later this change will not be saved.)
You can now log on with user "ubuntu"!!
Hope that helps!
Thank you! Sorry it took so long to get back in here.
I couldn't find user "ubuntu" in the "Users and Groups" area. So, thinking that user "ubuntu" was the legitimate default login, I logged out of Gnome, typed in "ubuntu" on the login, chose KDE from the bottom menu, then clicked on the login button while leaving the password area blank, and it worked. I got into KDE. I now have Ultimate Edition 2.5 on my computer, so I better change it on my profile. One thing, though, I couldn't install the FGLRX proprietary drivers in KDE, had to switch back to Gnome to do so.
