installing a remastered ultimate edition

Postby mikeymouse » Wed Mar 03, 2010 10:39 pm

I have remastered my ultimate edition 2.4.
The dvd runs live just fine.
I have tried to install the remastered version and cannot.
I have typed 'install' on the boot but this does nothing but run the live dvd as normal..
Does anyone know how to install a remastered Ultimate Edition version 2.4?
All help appreciated ..
thanks

Hello mikeymouse.

when you mad the Remaster from your system 2.4,
The Remaster work on the install process as normal install.
It will take more time to install Remaster from the DVD installation.
WAY?
Because there will be more packages installed in Advance on your old system,
There will be some more option that you have add to your system and so on.
And the user name+pass from the old system will be your log in to the Remaster.
Now - If you will try to install the Remaster on other system it may not work for you,
you have your hardware - the other system has her hardware.
I do not know with what software you have use to make the Remaster but
If during the process of doing the Remaster you did not add all the packages list and path,
Then the Remaster will Remastered the system as it is.
This is one way to look on your issue as you have written her.
please add some more info on your processing the Remaster so it will be more clear for the Team to help you.

Hi:
I remastered the system using Remastersys. I included all configuration.
I tried to install on the same system it was made on.
The install at boot does not work and there is no icon on the desktop to install.
All help appreciated Thanks..

what I can think about is for you to use Parted Magic OS - download and burn the ISO on Disc,
Then format your HDD to Unallocated then run your Remaster from the start.
It looks to me that it will solve the issue on your machine.

Hi mikeymouse,
As a suggestion, boot up a live Ultimate Edition 2.4 session (not your version).
On the desktop, you will see the standard Install icon.
Right click on the icon and choose properties.
In the command box, you will see the command needed to start the install process. Write this command down and reboot into your remastered Ultimate Edition
Now open a terminal and type in the command which you had written down.
I don't have a Ultimate Edition 2.4 DVD handy, but the command from Ubuntu 9.10 looks like this:
Code: Select all
ubiquity --desktop %k gtk_ui
GNOME 3.2.1
Oz Unity Developement (32) Kernel 15
Moebius Custom Gothic
Intel DG33FB Mainboard
Intel Core2Duo E8400
Amicroe 2 x 1Gb DDR2
WD 250Gb Sata II WD2500AAKS (O/S)
WD 500Gb Sata II WD5000AAKS (Data)
LG Super Multi DVDRW
GeForce 8600GT PCI-E 16x 512Mb 540 MHz
