Installing Gnucash in UU2.4 [SOLVED]

Installing Gnucash in UU2.4 [SOLVED]

Postby kghosh22 » Wed Dec 16, 2009 10:24 am

I have not been able to install Gnucash in Karmic(x64), UU2.4. Two dependencies remain unsatisfied. Trying to install Gnucash from Synaptic gives -

gnucash:
Depends: libaqbanking20 but it is not installable
Depends: libgoffice-0-6 (>=0.6.6) but it is not installable

Installed versions were libaqbanking29 and libgoffice-0-8.
I found these are being used by aqbanking, so I removed aqbanking and tried to reinstall gnucash, but that did not help, since libaqbanking20 and libgoffice-0-6 are not available in the repository. Surprisingly libgoffice-0-4 is available.

Any workarounds possible, to install Gnucash ?

Hi K Ghosh

My only suggestion, which has worked for me with other software but I am unsure about GnuCash, is:

First:

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade

then

sudo apt-get install gnucash*

or install the dependancies individually, with the *

eg:

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade

then

sudo apt-get install libaqbanking* libgoffice* gnucash*

I found that using the * pulls the latest version, even though it doesn't show in Synaptic.

Otherwise there is a wiki...http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Debian

Cheers

Hi Kiwinsn,
I have finally cracked the problem.

The Ultamatix repository provided along with UU2.4 (now I am on UU2.5), shows the Gnucash 2.2.9.1-getdeb1 package from getdeb in the Synaptic Package Manager. This package has the dependency problems I had outlined earlier.

After turning off the Ultamatix repository and updating the package list, I could get the Gnucash 2.2.9-0ubuntu4, which installed without any complains.

Many thanks for your time :)
Have a good day.
