so should I try what I mentioned above or is there a way to use the Karmic live CD to update the grub that Ultimate Edition installed?

You can try either way.Its a extra step,but they both should have the same result.

SOLVED

Postby rdg123 » Mon Nov 09, 2009 9:16 pm

ok for some reason Grub was still seeing the disks as a RAID array and therefore attempting to boot a raid which, of course, can't be mounted because it does not exist. So, I figured out that i had to add nodmraid to the boot option manually to boot up the first time. Then navigate to /etc/default and then:
Code: Select all
sudo gedit grub

when you have the grub file open change this line:
Code: Select all
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"

to look like this:
Code: Select all
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="nodmraid quiet splash"

then you need to update grub manually:
Code: Select all
sudo update-grub2

that will rebuild /boot/grub/grub.cfg to be bootable now.

I thought it was doing that too...but decided to go on a hike instead of posting it :roll: .I found a bug for that specific issue too.It supposedly got fixed it the final karmic release?I guess not.Tho not sure...it might depend on which daily build Ultimate Edition was built off of?

So its installed,and running?If so good man.

When you use the option the "verify" with your particular burner app it will check it against the iso being burned....so need to.

Having an issue installing it on my system, I have installed 9.10 few times with no problem, but when trying to install 2.4, it get all the way through till it configues the boot loader and crashes every time. I have 2 X raid 0 arrays first with windows 7, second the one i'm trying to install 2.4 onto. it does see the arrays, but it for some reason won't finish the install. when i reboot, i get a grub error 15, i did try doing the update from the live cd as mentioned, but get grub-probe: error: cannot find a device for /.
Any idears on this please

i get that error when booting, i didn't try accessing the menu yet i'm sorry, i will when i get infront of it again, hold down shift from what i have read. i'm just a little confused as its when the installer trys to install grub that it crashes, though like has been mentioned, the ver of 2.4 isn't baised on the lastest 9.10.
