Need to fine ways to install ati driver without insternet co

Postby dyackalXP » Sun Jan 03, 2010 1:14 am

I do download files over the internet cafes,, so.. help on this one...

play my mp4 and mp3 and play avi, i mean its great but i have a problem in playing my game warcraft 3 frozen throne? i mean when i try to access it thru wine it runs but on the movie into it did not even finish the intro movie, and it stop it did not work. I check thru add/remove program and search for ati drive , the box is an check so think the driver is not installed maybe thats what doing on i mean because the ati driver catayls. is not installed on my machine thru Ultimate edition 2.3 ubuntu 9.04. i dont have internet so i download outside the driver from www.ati.amd.com i got the file i needed from when i got home and i check the file its .run its not .deb. Now my question is how to compile it and install it to my machine with out internet connection. i wish in the future someone include all the video driver packages so that no need to log on to internet updating and install from net, its all direct to CD all the restricted files and all the other .deb file needed to install. Now im satisfied with the ultimate edition 2.3 ubuntu 9.04 because i can play dvd movies on my dvd_rom and i can play my media files.. and i can make my desktop rotate 3d the effects are good. but i can play my warcraft 3 .. because of the fact that the ati driver is not installed and i dont have internet. I have the driver but i can install it. how to compile the ati driver thats in .run file to .deb so that i can install. and also the wine is verion 1.0.1 ? some windows program that im using can run on wine? whats seems to be the problem? i mean help on this one also. the wine. 1.0.1. and one has this dis same problem? i downloaded the ultimate edition 2.3( about 3 hours and so....) outside in the internet cafe....

im using ATI redion 9550 video card... i did download the lastest driver on ati/amd website.... how to install it on ultimate edition 2.3 without messing with all the packages installed already on the liveCD. thanks for the reply..

i need to run my warcraft 3 frozen throne ....my other game starcraft run but kinda bit slower with i run it on windows xp.. but my warcraft like i said didnt work... because of the issue i think with the opengl.. because in the case of starcraft you dont have to install the video card driver it will run without the driver installed even in windows xp.. i dont like windows anymore.... because of the license issue.. i dont have to pay that much for an OS.. and i dont want to used pirated cds anymore .. been there done that... its time to change..

and also how to tweak or update the latest wine ... because the wine version on the ultimate edition 2.3 is 1.1 i think ... im outside now on the internet cafe.. so i dint check exactly what version but its older .. i did try to installed wine 1.1.13 packages i download and its installed successfully but when i try to run it it mess up the gusty program.. it say is not installed and it did try to download it self but like i said i dont have internet at my place... thanks...i re-installed the ultimate edition 2.3 from the start again to resolved the issue..

On a Jaunty based os only the HD cards work with the ATI driver....So in a nut shell you can't use that driver. You can only use the open source drivers.

There is a way to hack the os to use it tho...I searched but could not find it(didn't look to long).I made a post with the instructions on how to.

If you wanting to install the .run file just open a terminal window and type: sudo then hit your space bar once then drag the .run file in the terminal window and then press enter.

Re the post/thread that you want on the ati subject, all you need to do is a advance search. You will find it ;)

The thing is if you wanted to hack the driver in you still need to be online. You will have to be able to download some things from different repos.

As it stands now that driver will not work at all. 2.3 is based off of Jaunty right?lol...I can't remember.

If you want to use the ATI driver then you must use 2.0,or any Ultimate Edition before the one you have.
