New catagories for forum?

Postby maxmojo53 » Sun Nov 01, 2009 10:02 pm

Hello all,

Could we maybe get some new catagories for the forum? Like "Hardware Related", or "Installation" or along those lines. I never know where to post anything. I'm no guru but I would be willing to help. (I know TheeMan doesn't have the time).

Anyway, (speaking of gurus) I just read Thee's post about GRUB2 and what a nightmare it will be (at least for lesser beings like me). I have 4 drives and 5 OS's and my menu.list and fstab, etc are trashed and that's with legacy Grub. I've searched some online forums without much luck. If anybody has any experience with Grub2 it's a perfect topic for a HOWTO. Let TheeMan do what he does best.

A little...But grub2 is changing constantly. Not really good for a how to.Even now if you install karmic at the grub screen it says the version is beta.

If you need help with grub2 there's one person I know of who tested the crap out of it,and knows more about it than the average user.Look up Ranchhand in the Ubuntu forum,or Widget at Stoner Edition forum.

...or just ask here.I'm sure we can figure it out. ;)

Oh ya...just for you.Look at the top topic for this thread.

GRUB2 isn't really too hard to figure out.Besides it automatic...most of the time. There is one command that basicaly "fixes" its self, but they changed it to a differnt one.I'm sure it will be on that page.Take notes!

Being thats its new and improved tho there are still bugs.I ran into one myself. Some bios's will need an option changed in order for it to even work...but I expect it to be ironed out soon.Tho if you update (I really don't recommend it.) you don't have to worriy about grubby2.

Cheers
