Help & support for Ultimate Edition 2.3

Permission denied!-[SOLVED]

Postby hoss » Wed Oct 21, 2009 3:44 am

Well first i should say i'm really new to linux (only had for 2 days). My problem is that i'm following a tut. For doing stuff within terminal (that i'm not good at) and i want to put a directory i have on my desktop to /usr/local dir, so my files match up and i can just copy and paste commands. But it keeps telling me Permission denied when i try to drag and drop the dir in to the dir i want it in.

Just in case needed, i'm running Ultimate Edition 2.3 64 bit.

WOW ! Blackwolf are you a lawyer ?

Hey , You might want to try "sudo nautilus" (without the quotes) open a terminal and type or copy and past sudo nautilus , Then your password .This will open a new window, Then just navigate to where you want to put your files and you should be able to drag and drop your item and place it were you want. keep this in mind , sudo nautilus has no parachute , in other words when in nautilus you are in the operating system itself , make no changes (other than your drag and drop) unless you know that is what you want to do , This is for you future reference , many things can be done in nautilus, as you will learn. ;) :geek: :D
