was installing something to do with language support then i got a message that something crashed..."You have 1 broken package on your system!" is the message i got...how do i fix this? thanks

system>administration>package manager (synaptic)

edit>fix broken packages or something like that (in the menus, just look if it's not edit)

So First the Ubuntu will be out at the 29-10-2009.

The fix for Synaptic is in terminal :

i am not getting through...i tried what vinca told me but things remain the same..i run admin instruction in terminal but command not found...could you please explain the process clearer for me? thanks

i did that..results remain the same....when i try to access the add/remove i get this message....This is a major failure of your software management system. Please check for broken packages with synaptic, check the file permissions and correctness of the file '/etc/apt/sources.list' and reload the software information with: 'sudo apt-get update' and 'sudo apt-get install -f'.

Add sudo to the front of the command Amir gave you, it will prompt your for your password, then all should be good.
