Help & support for Ultimate Edition 2.3

search box

Postby dnt99611 » Fri Oct 16, 2009 5:10 am

First let me say I am new to Ultimate Edition and to linux also, so please be easy on a old man.
I have just loaded Ultimate Edition 2.3 onto a Toshiba Satellite and I am unable to get the search box that first appears to close. Everything else seems to be working but the search box is really messing things up for me. Any help would be great.

I would love to be able to give you one but at this point I can not use Ultimate Edition as the search box, the one where you type in the box and it looks for stuff, is in the middle of my screen. When I open something else up it just stays there and is on top of the other window blanking out part of the screen. I loaded Ultimate Edition on a desktop and the search box comes up with the wallpaper but you can click the arrow and close it. No matter what I do in the search box nothing happens. I am able to type in it and it does a search but it locks after that.

I have tried to upload a screen shot but not having much luck I am afraid. I am looking at a window with a set of binoculars on one side and a blank window on the other. At the bottom it says" type to start searching"

Worked like a charm!! Thank you very much. I think I am going to like this forum and this OS. I do not even know another person running Linux so places like this are a huge help for someone like myself who are trying to learn Linux on their own.
