No Sound-[SOLVED]

Help & support for Ultimate Edition 2.3

Re: No Sound

Okay I've done that in Ubuntu 32 bit and it didn't help. I did it again in Ubuntu 64bit it didn't help. So repeating a 3rd or 4th time isn't gonna get the sound going on my laptop. I know it has something to do with HP dv series and it's confusing :?

Whenever I've tried it (with pulse uninstalled). I got halfway and it wouldn't finish or something. I just with I had sound on the laptop.

Okay I've gotta a different External Card. The Creative XFI USB. I managed to get it working in Ultimate Edition. So now I gonna try some of the stuff that you'll suggested when I get the chance again. The Creative Runs on OSS not ALSA so I could remove the ALSA if I need to. How would I do that?

Also I have screen shots how do I post them? I never knew how to post pictures

Kind of sad :( about it cus It won't Autodetect and I don't have 5.1 sound anymore or and still won't do volume control. I'll try and upload my Youtube video on that. It's hard to explain.

Since everything is very confusing right now (That page is very confusing I don't even see Part C). I'll wait for more help on getting the Intel working with Ultimate Edition. He's the screen shot AND check my Youtube video on how sound works and doesn't work. The setup is a little different, but the save problem. (It's the video with the Yamaha R1 as the wallpaper).

Hi i had problems with alsa on Ultimate Edition 2.0 2.1 and 2.2 (2.3 working out of the box thanks theemahn)
so i uninstalled alsa and intalled OSS

First Purge the Pulse Audio
Code: Select all
sudo killall pulseaudio
cp /etc/X11/Xsession.d/70pulseaudio ~/
sudo apt-get purge pulseaudio

Next blacklist the alsa modules
Code: Select all
sudo dpkg-reconfigure linux-sound-base

then press enter then choose OSS

reboot

next install some pakages
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install -y binutils libgtk2.0-0 sed gcc libc6
sudo apt-get install -y build-essential linux-headers-`uname -r` gawk libtool libgtk2.0-dev
sudo apt-get install -y libesd0 libsdl1.2debian-oss

Now time to install OSS
Grab the deb package from here http://www.opensound.com/download.cgi choose 32bit or 64bit depending on which version you have and place it on your desktop

Open the terminal then
Code: Select all
cd Desktop
then run sudo dpkg -i oss-linux*.deb

*put the name of the package you downloaded in there

reboot when you log back in make a custom launcher for ossxmixer not ossmix
sound should be working
and last but not least install gstreamer plugins bad
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install -y gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad

Hope this helps <BREW>
