UU2.3 & OO icons

Help & support for Ultimate Edition 2.3

UU2.3 & OO icons

Postby kghosh22 » Fri Aug 14, 2009 12:49 pm

I have installed UU2.3 (64bits) and the default theme.
Open Office icons are not visible, only text is seen in the menus.
This problem exists in UU2.1/2.2 also, with their default themes.

Any workarounds ?
Thanks,
-K.Ghosh

You could just try and change the theme and see if that clears it up. I know from experience that curtain themes, especially dark themes, have problems with showing text in other programs on the system. There may be a way to correct this but I think it would take a bit of work to do so. Just go through your themes and choose one that is capable of showing text clearly through out all the apps you run. Or try customizing the theme to show text in different colors. ;)

Outside of the Themes been the problem, i am also looking at his GPU not having the proper driver running so that it can render the graphics for the program/icons/etc properly!! Just a thought though. I had a similar problem like this with my ATI GPU when i was running the default drivers that came with the kernel & not the third party restricted drivers!!

Hi Stoner,
I tried all the themes installed along with UU2.3 and found the following themes worked for me (including OO)-
Lux, Dark Looks, Darkwood, Midnight Black Plastic, Monochromatic Black, Moomex-Ultimatum, Mythbuntu, New Wave, Slickness, UE2.0, Ultimate III, Cylon Eye Modded & Fresh.

Of these, I best liked theme "Fresh" (needs gnome-folders) with following changes -
Icons - nuovexT2.2, Window Borders - Neutronium Deep Black, Cusor - Ultimate Edition Cusor Set, Fonts - Liberation Sans - 10.

Where do I get gnome-folders ?

I have not been able to install Gnucash in UU2.4. Two dependencies remain unsatisfied.
Any workarounds known ?

Thanks,

Hello kghosh22.

can you please post for us the dependencies that you have ask for?
OR can you install this packages by your self from synaptic.

Trying to install Gnucash from Synaptic gives -

gnucash:
Depends: libaqbanking20 but it is not installable
Depends: libgoffice-0-6 (>=0.6.6) but it is not installable

Installed versions were libaqbanking29 and libgoffice-0-8.
I found these are being used by aqbanking, so I removed aqbanking and tried to reinstall gnucash, but that did not help, since libaqbanking20 and libgoffice-0-6 are not available in the repository. Surprisingly libgoffice-0-4 is available.
