If you ask me on that issue,
I use Gmail Manager.
and there is no problem at all with getting the mail.
here you can see how to configure the Gmail Manager.

I'm having the same problem.

I think the problem is getting reply notifications from the forum....not getting notifications in general.

This is exactly what I have been saying Over and Over again. Despite the fact that I have selected "Notify me when a reply is posted", I never receive an email informing me that someone has replied to a thread that I either have Created or one that I Subscribe to. I have to keep launching my web browser and navigating back to this forum to check and see if anyone has submitted a reply. Changing the email address assigned to my forum account has not changed the fact that I do Not receive emails Notifying me that Replies have been posted. The whole idea of the Notification process is to save time and aggravation.

With regards to Gmail Notifier, that is not really related. I was just looking for a useful tool to inform me when a new message had arrived in my Gmail account. In versions of Ubuntu, prior to UE2.2, I used the Screenlet called Gmail 0.7. It displays an icon, on the Desktop, that looks like a White Envelope with Red G inside. In the corner of this icon was a number indicating how many Unread messages were in my Gmail InBox. For some reason, it no longer works properly in UE2.2 and 2.3, so I was looking for an alternative.

I hear ya,but like I said I can't get them either.So the question is can anyone get post notifications?.....from this forum.

I am using a yahoo account on the forum & yes i get all my notifications to my inbox on a daily basis!!

it's the same with me with Gmail.
ALL the notifications get in to my mail+sounds.
on a daily basis,and pop ups from the site in the time that they where sent to me.
So maybe FireFox/Shiretoko is blocking the pop ups from the site,
and blocking the mail notifications.
one more thing is,maybe you PPL block the Mdns in the Firewall.
iF The Mdns is not allow then it means that your communication to the DNS is blocked.
If you PPL use arno-iptables-firewall+Firestarter,
then arno-iptables-firewall,will let you configure ports 80,443,22 in the process
of his installation,If you have configure port 80-then port 81 will be enable too,
The same like port 22-and port 21.
so try to see from the option which one is blocking your way to get your mail from the site.






buschbarber,you can install from ubuntu tweak the Mail notification.
just configure it right,with sound,and do not let the software be Auto - detect,
configure it to Gmail,yahoo etc.



And there is something more that I can think about in this issue,
you need to start the mail notification every time you log in to your machine,
right click and start,click on the icon of Mail notification!

If it is Gmail Manager,then you have to Enter your pass to every Mailbox that you have.

Ok!! I installed Mail Notification. This is the same one I installed a few days ago. There are two issues with this.

1) The number that appears on the icon in the System Tray does not represent the number of Unread messages in my Gmail InBox

2) When I Left-Click on the Mail Notification icon, it launches Evolution. I do not use Evolution for anything. All I want it to do is launch Firefox and open my Gmail account.

Finally - Why is it that this forum does not send email messages to my Gmail account informing me when new Replies have been posted to my Threads? I believe several others are asking the same question.

To get your Email for your posts Replies, just search for it.

O.K about mail Mail Notification,that can be A problem! way?

because if you install this software on your system before the system have the first installation!
and you can't make changes at list from what I have test.
the system remember your configuration with the software from the first time.
and it is kind of lock.
so after I have finish my test I had to install different software to get it done,
the problem is that you do not know that until you make tests .
so that is way I have tell the PPL to get the Gmail Manager from FireFox plug in.
with this I can bypass the issue,and configure the Gmail Manager to work for me good.

about Evolution maybe you configure it to be you reader for the mail?
you can just configure it to open the last massage that is bater configuration.

I tell you what buschbarber,that is my way of looking on the issue.
un install ALL you software of any mail Notification!
then restart your machine.
then just install the Gmail Manager with FireFox!

I uninstalled gm-notify and rebooted Ultimate Edition. I launched Firefox and installed the Gmail Manager. I configured the Preferences for Login, Sound, etc. It now sits in the lower right hand corner of my Status Bar.

If I do not have Firefox running, how is it going to Notify me if any new messages arrive in my Gmail account? Is it still active when Firefox is closed?

I have followed you instructions, to the letter, regarding how to set up my preferences, in this Fourm's Control Panel, so that when a Reply is made to one of the Threads I am Subscribed to, by Anyone, I should Receive an Email indicating that there was a new Reply.

I have Never received an Email, from this forum, of any kind.

I believe my Control Panel settings are correct, yet I receive Emails from everywhere else in the world but not from this forum.

There should be enough evidence, now, to indicate that there is a problem that needs to be investigated. I am frustrated because you seem to be telling me that it is something I am doing wrong. I have an open mind to any possibilities, but I don't see that I can do anything else from my end.
