No EMail Notification of Replies to my Posts-[SOLVED]

Could you not use something like google toolbar, that has a Gmail notifier in it although i have not heard it make a warning sound when a new mail is in, it will show a open or closed envelope to indicate when new mail has arrived it also has a quick read feature which shows the headers.

I do not want to have to launch Firefox and then launch Gmail from a toolbar. The less keystrokes the better, but thank you for your suggestion.

After looking at all the options, the most useful tool to me is the Mail Notification icon in the System Tray. It tells me how many new messages I have and plays a sound whenever a new message is received.

I just need to know how to modify this so that when I click on the Mail Notification icon, it brings up my Gmail Inbox instead of the Send a Note screen. I am sure that this is not a difficult task for the right person.

Attached is the Preferences screen for the Status Icon for Mail Notification.

OK!! Here is the script that I downloaded and saved to my home directory in order to make Gmail my default email client. This script launches Firefox, but opens the Compose Mail screen instead of my Gmail Inbox. I have not had any luck editing this script to do what I want it to.

I need some help here.

Getting back to the original reason for this thread, I am now receiving email Notifications when Replies are posted to threads on this forum.

This is very helpful because I don't have to keep checking to see if there were any new replies to my posts.
