Claws-Mail

Help & support for Ultimate Edition 2.3

Claws-Mail

Postby sweeney276 » Mon Jul 20, 2009 12:14 pm

Is it possible to give the up-to-date version of Claws-Mail and its plugins in the sources.list in Ultimate Edition 2.3? The repos for Ubuntu 9.04 contain only Claws-Mail 3.5.0 but the latest full release is now 3.7.2.

Claws-Mail has got its own Launchpad PPA where you can download the sources.list URLs and the authentication key, but it would be helpful if the latest version o Ultimate Edition could have it ready installed for download. It would be even better if it could come natively installed, but you've probably got too much on. Still, please keep this latter request for a future edition of Ultimate Edition.

Its very nice of you to mention that program billhedrick, but I think this statement sound a little rude or implying something. This forum is about freedom of speech. If you want to instruct/direct a user in finding or helping them with something, I would suggest you be polite & straight forward. Don't drop a line or two with sarcasm with it!! That type of stuff don't cut it around here!! A request is just a request. We don't mean to get smart about it. Lets just leave it at that.

To be less silly. Claws-Mail and a lot of other good programs are easily installed after the fact. Go to System/Administration/Synaptic. Do a search for it either in the quick search box or the longer search option. You can quickly install a lot of programs that aren't automatically installed in Ultimate Edition. Personally, I use the blogging software "drivel." It's not standard in any linux distro I have found, but it's quick and easy to add via Synaptic.

Hi Guys,
I think what was also missed was the fact that sweeney276 mentioned it was available in the repos, just not the bleeding edge version, so you would have to assume they know about Synaptic. Humour is always a good thing, you just have to make it absolutely painfully obvious so nobody takes it the wrong way. :P
