Please make sure Ultimate Edition 2.2 not have ubuntu bug "softreset failed (device not ready)" when booting from USB portable hard disk or USB flahsdrive/pendrive. Boot from DVD no problem.

Both Sabily 9.04 and Super OS 9.04 have this bug when boot using USB hard disk/pendrive. I have try create bootable USB using unetbootin, cd2usb and manual syslinux -ma x: trick all same error.

Hello suraya.

Ultimate Edition have a wide variety of media players like "Songbird ,Amarok, VLC, Mplayer, XBMC Media Center,Rhythmbox etc. As for the bug that you have a problem with, maybe if you had reported it a bit earlier, then maybe TheeMahn would have had a look into it and have it sorted out. Who knows maybe your lucky, TheeMahn have fixed quite a few of the common bugs known to Ubuntu, so maybe your bug is one of the many that was corrected. No one knows for sure what is included in Ultimate Edition 2.2, as it is not released as yet!!

Best regards

Okay, just saying I did not mean "I'm stpuid" to be harassment to anyone. My laptop is just out of everything I don't care about it I am just going to install 2.2 and take 2.1 off. And it doesn't have xp its solely a Linux machine now.

My desktop specs before I start.

AMD Athlon 4400+ X2 2.2 ghz
pc-6400 ram (better then pc2-5400) 2gb
A dell 19 inch monitor with usb hub
Nvidia 8400gs 512mb
70 gb sata1 hard drive
Realtek high audio

I currently have Ubuntu 9.04 installed and nevermind backing up anymore went through and forgot I made all default downloads and files go to my dropbox. So problem avoided.

But I will have windows installed and have about 9gb for 2.2 this is not enough. So I was going to take 5gb from windows and have 10 gb there for temporary files. So 13 gb for 2.2 and 1 gb swap. I am just concerned about windows file system goign corrupt. And my boot manager all messed up. Will it dual boot with no problems? And will the file system go corrupt?

One, first thing first, all you need to do is back up all your files from your existent windows partition & delete the existent partitions and create two new partitions. One for windows and one for linux along with your swap. Install windows first and then install Ultimate Edition on the other. You won't face any file system corruption/Data corruption if you don't mess things up your self or with some application etc. Dual booting Window with Ultimate Edition/Linux will be just fine. Your boot manager will work like a charm ;)

Suggestion for partition tools to use:

1. Gparted

or

2. Parted Magic

Suggestive file system to use:

NTFS "Windows of course"

EXT3 OR EXT4 "Linux/Ultimate Edition"

I am just going to trash my ubuntu boot. So ubuntu out of the way I can make room for 2.2. I Will shrink windows by 5gb for 2.2 and so this way I have room for the many programs on it. Then I will use my 1 tb for data.

Ultimate Edition 2.2 has a newer kernel then Ubuntu Jaunty... I installed it from usb stick.

Ultimate USB & Raw_Speed are USB Sticks.

I am aware of the USB issue. I too still see it even with the 2.6.28-13 kernel (Jaunty is -11) It is a kernel related issue & has been squashed in karmic. The way to get Ubuntu or Ultimate Edition 2.2 to install from USB is to wait until you see the bar on the usplash bouncing back and forth unplug & re-plugin in the usb device it will then work ;)

Audacious?

Good news! Waiting for this release. Thank You TheMahn <BREW>
