I recently installed ubuntu Ultimate Edition 2.1 in my laptop
I am not getting O/P volume. however I am able to get it if I use headset
How can I get out of this problem?

Hello swaroop.

to me it looks like your output to the speakers is mute.
If you can give some more info on your machine,sound card,mixer option that
will help us to solve the problem for you.

I'm posting you some screen shots to help you.
1- go to the speakers in the top right,right click on the speakers,
open volume control.
2-when it pop up in the window,un mute what has Xon it.
3-hit preference-new window pop up,mark there all of the boxes and close.
