Audio extraction from a video file

Postby Wolfie Lee » Mon Jul 13, 2009 11:27 pm

I think my command line is not right on this.....should I Change Directory before running these commands?

ffmpeg -i my_video_file.avi extracted_audio.mp3

OR

mplayer -dumpaudio my_video_file.avi -dumpfile extracted_audio.mp3

(source: http://www.dailygyan.com/2008/01/how-to ... video.html)

I moved the file to the desktop for the test runs....

note that it cannot open MPlayer, either...

no I didn't.......I'm all over it now, though!
I'll post back.

Thanks!

Started a Flac rip.....it was working, but I stopped it to make it a 192abr, and to specify output directory......Man, is it going to take a LLLLLLLOOOOONNNNNGGGG time! It showed 19+ hours to go when I stopped to make the changes, but HEY......IT WORKS!

I made an ASSUMPTION that that was strickly an Audio conversion/manupulation tool...
Many THANKS!!

p.s.
GREAT! 25% complete with 20 min. to go for the MP3 conversion...

ROGER, ROGER!

Did all that. It is running, but, and this is wierd: it BACKED up to 24% completion, and stalled, while the ETA is at 1:48:00 and climbing..........I'll just let it run tonight, and see what happens.....

Thanks again!

Audacity works like a dream on this. I pulled the entire sound track of "Young Frankenstein" off.
