2.1 compatablity

Postby baskie » Tue Jun 02, 2009 8:05 pm

Hi all, Im one of those that want to let loose of MS tight grip and turn to the other side. The last time I tried 2.1 I had a big problem getting the nvidia drivers installed and working for my 9800 GT. Has this gotten any better? I also like to play a few different Windows based games, what are the chances of those working with wine now? Also I had a few problems with ventrilo working with wine. I know these are some what iffy questions, but if a Linux community can answer them its this one!

thanks in advance! <BREW>

As a side note...I found If I install my games with xp on a separate c: drive I get better performance with wine.

yep...some games just wont install using wine, but if i run the exe. from the xp made partition then they are already installed, and they run just fine.Look at as using xp as another tool to get what you want. Its an big app to use,but I found it to be fruitful. It has also let me keep my linux desktop up without dual booting into xp.

I had the same issue with my 9800 not "saving" the config after reboot or even working at all. I downloaded the "janty" edition and it works perfectly! I would try that if i were you and see if that doesn't work out better for you.
