I had the same problem. Solved it by uninstalling samba and any depended packages. reboot and install new version of samba.

I Included "Proposed" Updates In Synaptic.And Just Installed The Update For Samba.(Out Of All The Updates That Come Up After Reload Of Repos)After That Unchecked "Proposed" Again And Its Worked Great So Far...............Smuggly
