If it's a mount problem, I presume it can be fixed with a script some how. Hopefully one of the admins can give you that answer, I'm not experienced enough to do that - yet - hopefully

I have had/have some serious problems with samba here in Ultimate Edition 2.1 and used a lot of time on trying to fix it, getting the same error message you got. (can't share files on my PC, but I can read from and write to a samba shared ext. harddrive) I gave up at last and is just waiting for 2.2
I works fine in Ubuntu 9.04 and I'll presume that is the foundation for 2.2
