Hello, When you upgrade the drivers, do you click on a system notification that tells you that drivers exists, or are you manually doing it from the Nvidia web page? I only let the system tell me that an upgrade exists and upgrade from that notification. Doing so from any other methods, if you not sure what you are doing will or could cause problems. I have used many different Nvidia cards without problems, but I haven't used the one in your sig or in a dual config. Maybe just use one of the cards and see if that will work OK then add the 2nd back into the system. I am no expert, I just try to use my common sense to try to figure things out. Hope you get it to workout. I play with linux on 4 different computers at the moment.
1)HPE-500F a 6 core @ 2.70 Ghz, with 8 gigs of Ram and a 1.5 T HD
the graphics card is an AMD Radeon HD 6450 with 512 MB DDR3 Ultimate Edition 3.2, Windows 7
2) HP Pav Elite m9040n Core2 quad 4gig ram Nvidia Geforce 8400, 640 g hd Win.7, UBUNTU 10.10
3) Gateway FX4710-UB0031 Core 2 quad 6 g ram Nvidia 8600gt-1gigddr3, 640g hd & Windows 7, & PCT Destined

Do an advanced search for SLI here, I believe the post prior is correct in setting up one card first, sorry I can't remember just now, but I know there is a thread here for the cure

Sounds like you're getting closer, now go to SYSTEM>PREFERENCES>APPEARANCE>VISUAL EFFECTS...and select "EXTRA" this will enable the full use of your graphics card...You might want to check first APPLICATIONS>SYSTEM TOOLS>SYSINFO if your graphics card is detected correctly it will show up there and have details

You can get both of your SLI cards working if you read this tread. All the answers should be there if you start with the 4'th post on this side viewtopic.php?f=18&t=2840&start=10 ;)

Mazal wrote:Hi Guys , I'm new to Ultimate edition. I am looking for a replacement OS for Windows and are trying this one. Anyway , I have exactly the same problem. I get the notification that newer drivers are available. I select the latest one (177) download and install. After reboot I just get blank screen when Ultimate Edition get's to the login. The monitor shuts down completely as if the pc is powered down. But the difference I only have 1 3D card in my pc. Geforce 9800 GT 512MB PCI-E. I also tried with my Geforce 9600 GT and the same thing happens. So I can't use Nvidia drivers at all at the moment :(

Although you get the notification, it doesn't mean that driver will play nice! Try this method and see if it solves you problem...APPLICATIONS>SYSTEM TOOLS>ENVYNG...let ENVY select and automatically install the driver...then follow the instructions above to activate visual effects...let's see where this leads you...stick with it, it's not that difficult, we''l help you get things sorted out...and this is a great replacement for Windows...just takes a little getting used to
