smuggly,
I noticed you have a "Hauppauge pvr 150 television pci card" listed in your signature. Are you using it under Ultimate Edition? If so, are you using MythTV?
I have a PC with Win XP Pro - Media Center Edition. with a Hauppauge card and I am using BeyondTV. I set this upm as a PVR about 3 1/2 to 4 years ago, and have been very pleased with it. I am wondering of I could use MythTV or possibly some other PVR software with an Ubuntu or Ultimate Edition distro and running a PVR on my Shop Sysyem. I wanted to hear from someone who is doing something similar, and what their experience has been like.
Let me know if this is what you are doing....
