its hanged at 95%. now i've read the post for that. my issue is that in my boot options i cannot get rid of the ubuntu option. i tried to re-install 2.1 and it just added a 2nd ubuntu to the list on boot up. how do i get rid of em?

Howdy Voodoo...not hard at all...open Terminal...type or copy & paste:
Code: Select all
sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst

...remove the lines for the distro you want to remove...then open 'StartUp-Manager' from under System/Admin...
NOTE: if you don't have 'StartUp-Manager' installed then open 'Synaptic Package Manager' from under System/Admin and click on box in front of 'startupmanager', then 'Apply'
...in 'StartUp-Manager',
StartUp-Manager.png
...uncheck 'Timeout', and make sure 'Default operating system' is set to the 'kernal' you're running...

It´s not a Windows fix at all. You must be inside Ultimate Edition 2.1, and open a terminal by clicking on Applications - Accessories - Terminal. This opens a Dos like window, and in there is where you copy and paste (or type) what SaddleTramp has suggested. If you need greater detail, let us know.

Vo0do0 wrote:no there is no menu.lst, there is a folder called splashimages and a file called default.

also the partition resizing (part of the install) is still at 0%. do the linux gods hate me?

ok..just to make sure we're on the same page now, I'm still working on the dual boot deal and getting your boot menu straightened out...are we both still looking at all this that way, OR, have we moved on the installing from the LiveDVD into a new and separate partition apart from Windows???
