well I've been learning a bit about this OS .... I like it ... and since there is a newer version coming out I've been messing this one up :0 .. two settings I've changed and haven't been able to undo are ... I did something with the trash bin in evolution ... it won't empty the trash any more :P and while I was mucking with compiz settings I somehow lost the desk tops on the bottom panel .... I can switch by minimizing current and then using wheel of mouse .... I had one bit of brilliance where I had changed the mouse settings and disabled the left mouse key .. that was fun . but I fingered it out

Hello and Welcome! Glad that you are having fun, the neat thing is that if you mess it up, you just put the live CD in and install it again, as long as you back up anything important! The only way to learn is to try things out. I installed the gamers edition and every edition up to 2.1 on several computers, so far.if you right click on a panel, you have several options including an "Add to panel" this is where you can add many things to that particular panel you clicked on. If you click on the "new panel" you can add another panel to either sides, or top or bottom. Hint: make sure you hit the right location, one time I put 2 panels on the bottom-that's a whole lot of fun!? NOT. It ways very difficult to remove the new one...

In the Compiz-Config Settings Manager there is a desktop area and a place to click on SHOW DESKTOP, make sure that is checked, don't know if that is where you lost your desktop, at any rate mine is ticked. If you have it really messed up just reinstall the whole system and try again, this way when the newest version comes out you will be ready to really have fun!
