ACT files

Postby witblits1970 » Wed Apr 01, 2009 8:36 am

i have a MIKOMI digital voice recorder. i have recorded some stuff but it recorded it as ACT file rather than MP3. normally there is no issues in converting this file to ogg or wav. since it recorded as ACT there seem no way to access it to my pc and burn the file to disk. has anyone heard of this type of file as i have not. thanks :?

These 2 had the most folks saying they worked: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/paradoxsm/2598
http://www.geocities.com/sound_converter/

If these don't work, I've got an RCA recorder that had the playback program built into it that I installed on my system (Windows) when I plugged it in...let me know results of above and if they don't work, I'll upload the program on ADrive and you can try that..
...Good luck!

'but it recorded it as ACT file'
Where on earth do you find this software(or hardware). It seems like every couple of weeks you have some weird format to convert.
According to what some people say this will convert it to mp3 or ogg:

It looks like a Windows only program.

A lot of software use odd file extensions. Like Abiword. You need it installed to open up a file created by it.
The other option is to just change the file extension and see if it will load into a converter program(sometimes you can trick software that way).
