hay guys, not much of an error but i nearly finished downloading it last night and when it was done it said it couldnt ave the file? just thought it might just be a simple error but thought id post it. im downloading the 2.1 64bit from the torent this time round.

Also 2.1 is better all round im guessing then 2.0? except for the gamers edition but u can always just download it urself right?

I'm not quite sure what you mean about the error. As far as 2.1 being better I would say yes overall. Every operating system has it's flaws. The 64 bit is the best as far as I'm concerned.

also was wondering if linux would perform on my machine as it sits, like drivers availability and such. Im goin to dual boot vista/ultimate if thats possible as i use vista for uni and programing (im learning on visual c++ at uni). I have a MSI GX720.

core 2 duo P8600 2.4GHz
4gb ram (DDR2)
Nvidia 9600m gt
320gb HDD

What is your sound card. Your video card should be good. Any printers?
You can dual boot or use a virtual environment for Vista(Like Virtual Box).

Pretty sure its an intergrated one, when i go to device manager it has a high definition audio device from MS and a realusion on. ot sure if that means anything

Realtek is well supported by Linux so all your hardware should work.
After you install, go here to install your Nvidia video driver(just install the recommended one and reboot):
